Nancy Taylor is a versatile pianist with a boundless love for the instrument. Driven by a deep fascination with the repertoire, she is dedicated to sharing her understanding of these masterpieces with audiences and pupils alike. Nancy’s interpretative skills span the works of a wide range of composers and she aims to inspire others to uncover and appreciate the beauty and emotion within the music.

Nancy’s performances have taken her to a diverse array of venues, from the Bristol Hippodrome to Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, the Reform Club in London to the Music Club in Bristol. She has worked as resident jazz pianist in Brown’s restaurant, ballet pianist for the late Angela Redgrave’s Bristol School of Dancing and as music therapist for the Space charity in London. Nancy has enjoyed positions over the years as choir accompanist and is much in demand as an accompanist for young instrumentalists taking their graded music examinations. Nancy particularly cherishes collaborative piano projects and has the honour of working with Magdalena Prejsnar, her piano duo partner. Teaching is a lifelong passion for Nancy, and she finds great joy in passing on the knowledge she has gained from her own mentors.

Nancy’s journey with the piano began at the age of five, advancing quickly under the guidance of Sue Tarr, Alwynne Pritchard and Gwyn Pritchard, with whom she also studied the cello. As a child she was an enthusiastic recorder player, taking lessons with early music specialist Jenny Tribe. Nancy went on to study music at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she received her piano tuition from Sally Mays and John Tilbury, earning a BMus degree in Music and an MMus degree in Contemporary Music Studies. Returning to her home town of Bristol, Nancy continued her piano studies with Kate Miller. She completed another masters degree in Solo Piano Performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Katharine Lam and Julian Jacobson and graduating with distinction. She was generously supported with scholarships from the Conservatoire Association and the Headley Trust. Whilst in Birmingham, Nancy was piano advisor to the BBC for the television series Silent Witness. She also savoured the opportunity to revisit her early love of dance by participating in a scheme at Elmhurst Ballet School where she was fully trained in the art of ballet piano.
